LAMDA examinations are internationally recognised qualifications in performance and communication.
At LSMT our LAMDA programme is focused, purposeful and exam-led.
We Teach to Achieve, unlike an ongoing weekly private lesson, our LAMDA programme runs once each year with one clear goal: to get each learner completely exam ready.
Learners join us for a focused block of private tuition we sometimes accept learners as a pair, they take their examinations in July and then finish their private lessons for that year.
Once you are on our LAMDA books, you will automatically be offered/re-enrolled for the following year's programme unless you tell us otherwise.
There is no rush through the grades. Learners progress at their own individual pace according to age, experience, ability, confidence and capacity for learning material.
Some learners choose to work towards more than one qualification or module during the same examination period.
HOW MANY LESSONS WILL I NEED?
Not every learner needs the same amount of preparation.
Depending on the grade being taken, previous experience, ability to learn lines/material and how independently the learner works at home, we offer a:
6-WEEK PROGRAMME
Suitable for confident learners taking an appropriate lower grade who are able to learn and rehearse independently between sessions.
8-WEEK PROGRAMME
Our standard route for the majority of learners.
10-WEEK PROGRAMME
For learners who require additional preparation, spending lesson time learning lines or who are working towards more demanding material.
All Level 3 learners MUST complete the full 10-week programme.
Parents pay up front for 6 weeks to secure the child's placement, once we get to week 4 or 5 it is clear what programme will suit the learner best and will then invoice for remaining lessons.
WHAT CAN I STUDY WITH LAMDA?
LSMT currently offers:
🎭 ACTING
Develop characterisation, performance technique, vocal skills, interpretation, script work and understanding of your chosen pieces.
Learners perform scenes or monologues from memory and answer questions about their work.
🎶 MUSICAL THEATRE
Combining acting, singing, characterisation and storytelling.
Learners prepare musical theatre repertoire from memory alongside the knowledge and theory required for their grade.
LAMDA Acting and Musical Theatre qualifications progress all the way from introductory examinations through to Grade 8.

Lamda is open to all not just LSMT members.
THE THREE LAMDA LEVELS
LEVEL 1 - Grades 1, 2 & 3
The perfect introduction to graded LAMDA examinations.
Learners begin developing strong performance foundations including:
- Characterisation
- Vocal clarity
- Projection and diction
- Understanding text and lyrics
- Performance confidence
- Learning and retaining material
- Basic knowledge and theory
LEVEL 2 - Grades 4 & 5
At Level 2, learners are expected to demonstrate greater technical control, interpretation, knowledge and independence.
Grade 5 sits at the same qualification framework level as GCSE.
It is important to note that a LAMDA qualification is not a GCSE, but it is positioned at the same RQF level.
LEVEL 3
Grade 6 – Bronze Medal
Grade 7 – Silver Medal
Grade 8 – Gold Medal
Level 3 is advanced LAMDA study for students who wish to work incredibly hard.
These qualifications sit at RQF Level 3 the same framework level as A levels and successful Level 3 qualifications can also attract UCAS Tariff points for university applications.

MOCK EXAM – £30
We really recommend this!
One of the most valuable parts of our LAMDA preparation is our optional Mock Examination.
Our strong Distinction success rate has been supported by giving learners the opportunity to experience the real thing before the real thing!
Learners complete their examination under mock examination conditions and are assessed using the relevant LAMDA assessment criteria.
The £30 fee includes:
- Full mock examination
- Mock grade
- Written feedback
- Individual score sheet
- Detailed examiner-style feedback
- A dedicated “Fix It” session
- Final performance improvements and targets
It gives learners experience of handling nerves, entering the room, introducing themselves, performing under pressure and answering knowledge questions before examination day.

Our brand NEW Exam Boost Workshop brings learners together with others working at the same LAMDA grade for one final preparation push before examination week.
This is an intensive examination preparation.
